Above the Mind of Morbidity
(Comeback - 1988)
A very different first release from this band. The music shifts from very simple death riffing and rhythms to pure, primitive, speedy grindcore and back again. What sets this album apart and makes it very weird sounding as well, are the vocals. Most are effect-ridden and mud-gargling, but spoken (not growled). They also use some raspy, black metal style voices that sound like the Immortal vocalist. The combination of the weird but laid-back voices and the brutal, primitive music is at most, strange, and I can't find anything good to say about this. Boring.
